An event organised in collaboration with the University
of Applied Arts Vienna.
Since 2020, the association
forum n aims
at fostering a deeper understanding of the arts’ role within sustainability movements and changemaking. From October 23rd
to 25th, the interdisciplinary, public symposium
arts of change – change of arts: care & action will be held
at WEST Reallabor Fassfabrik Wien.
Co-created by art students and experts from within and beyond academia, the
symposium addresses the relationship between care and creativity in the context of social sustainability. In times of global
conflicts, climate crises and socio-ecological ruptures caused by war, many people struggle emotionally, resulting in isolation
practices, societal separation and exclusion of vulnerable groups. This is where creative methods provide purposeful tools
to collectively face change, create cohesive communities and help process strong emotions such as fear, numbness and panic.
The symposium aims at creating a space for exchange and sharing. It is hosted as a green event to appropriately control
environmental impact, and concludes in a sustainably printed publication presented on Dec 10th at the University of Applied
Arts (Vordere Zollamstraße 7, 2nd floor, Room FLUX 2).
Contributions to this symposium are partly held in German
and partly in English.
