Danube Transformation Agency for Agency (DTAFA)

How to become an Island

Exhibition at Schauraum Angewandte, MuseumsQuartier

What would it mean to provide our bodies to the survival and needs of another creature?

For decades the Danubian River banks were shaped for the needs of humans alone. This made the habitats for birds like the Little Ringed Plover decline.

In a step by step (training) program DTAFA teaches how to offer our body as a breeding ground for the tiny bird species in How to become an Island.

Curation: Ruth Schnell and Tommy Schneider. Funded by Bezirk Neubau (cultural funding budget) and by the University of Applied Arts Vienna (Digital Arts).

The Danube Transformation Agency for Agency / DTAFA (Solmaz Farhang, Alexandra Fruhstorfer, Ege Kökel, Digital Arts graduate Lena Violetta Leitner, Andrea Palašti) formed in 2020 as an international collective of five female artists and designers. DTAFA’s practices and projects move between ecology, technology and activism with the aim to explore and enable more equitable ways of living together.
