Rotterdam with [APPLIED] FOREIGN AFFAIRS
Nature of Hope
[APPLIED] FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Institute of Architecture) will
be participating in the 11th International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam (IABR) under the theme "Nature of Hope."
[A]FA will present a 9-channel video installation, titled “Soft Unsealing” narrating diverse
facets of its ongoing project "Tamale Old Airfield" in Ghana. This urban project transforms an abandoned runway built in the
1920s into a vibrant recreational space in the heart of the city of Tamale.
Titled "Nature of Hope," this edition
of the IABR explores the interplay between nature, culture, and hope through the lens of architectural innovation and practice.
It delves into the essential question: What does it take to confront the uncertainties of the future amidst profound and multifaceted
transformations? Essentially, what are the building blocks necessary to sustain hope?
