On Tuesday, 27 June, Rector Gerald Bast was awarded the Honorary Ring of the University of Applied Arts Vienna in the Auditorium. Senate Chairwoman Anja Jonkhans opened the ceremony, which was followed by laudations from the Rector's long-standing colleagues.
Martina Schöggl, Head of the Rector's Office, Daniela Hammer-Tugendhat, Professor of Art History, Barbara Putz-Plecko, Vice Rector for Research and Diversity, and Klaus Bollinger, former Head of the Institute of Architecture and now a member of the University Council, all found moving words for their encounters and cooperation with Gerald Bast as Rector and as a person with an affinity for the arts and for political commitment.

The ceremony was accompanied with music by the radio.string.quartet. The highlight of the evening was the ceremonial awarding of the Honorary Ring to Gerald Bast, who not only wanted to say thank you, but also found appreciative words for his long-time companions in his speech.

The Honorary Ring of the University of Applied Arts Vienna was designed by Paolo Piva. Since 2002, the University of Applied Arts Vienna has awarded the ring to outstanding personalities who have a particularly meritorious relationship with the university.
