We
are delighted that we - the University of Applied Arts Vienna - are this year's winner of the Ladislav Sutnar Prize. The Angewandte
receives the award for its activities in constantly developing new ideas on how to help shape and manage technological and
media change while reflecting on historical traditions.
The Ladislav Sutnar
Faculty of Design and Art of the University of West Bohemia has been awarding the prize annually for twelve years - at the
award ceremony on November 15, 2023, the Applied Faculty was represented by Univ.-Prof. Leonhard Grond.
The prestigious
prize was also awarded to the Czech sculptor and artist Magdalena Jetelová and the American non-profit organization Printed
Matter, Inc.
With the Ladislav Sutnar Prize, the faculty honors the life and work of the internationally renowned
Czech-American designer Ladislav Sutnar, who was born in Pilsen. It is awarded to outstanding Czech and international artists
and institutions in recognition of their exceptional achievements, particularly in the field of applied art and design. The
award is closely related to the development of the Sutnar Faculty and its strategy, which reflects not only its current goals
but also its response to global events and current challenges.
We are very pleased!More information
