As part of a competition entitled "The gender gap in the field
of invention", young artists were invited to present ideas for the artistic design of the 2023 Annual Report. Mariia Soloviova
won the competition with her work "hidden but significant".
Her artistic work draws attention to the fact that
the achievements of women in science and research have often not been presented to the public and have even been concealed.
Solovia's work presents portraits of female researchers whose scientific work and achievements remained hidden for a long
time. Semi-transparent paper thus conceals literally the series of portraits. Puzzle pieces make it clear that every inventor
and every innovator is part of a larger entity and that inventions, discoveries and innovations are always supported by more
than one person.
Born in Kiev in 1999, Soloviova fled the war in March 2022 and is now studying Communication Design
at the University of Applied Arts Vienna.
