Conservation and Care of Outdoor Bronzes on Vienna’s Ringstraße

Research and Practice in an International Context

A cooperation between the Institute of Conservation and the Federal Monuments Office (Bundesdenkmalamt)

The event is dedicated to the preservation and maintenance of the bronze monuments along Vienna’s Ringstrasse from an international perspective. It is based on the recent findings of a comprehensive conservation evaluation conducted as part of a diploma thesis at the University of Applied Arts Vienna by Marlene Katharina Krischan: Bronze under Observation: On the Restoration History and Conservation Evaluation of Outdoor Bronzes on Vienna’s Ringstrasse.
These findings will be further explored and discussed during a guided walk along the Ringstrasse, featuring short keynote inputs presented directly at the respective sites. In addition, international expert speakers will provide insights into current research approaches, practical experience, and sustainable strategies for the preservation of outdoor bronzes in times of climate change.
All lectures will be held in English.
