The
Booxhibition exhibition as part of the Vienna
Design Week 2026
brings together twelve artistic reflections from the Klasse für Ideen at Communication Design
at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. It demonstrates why the book remains indispensable in the age of digitalisation
and artificial intelligence: as a medium of coherence and comprehensibility, as a public space for reason and dissent, and
as a physical object that cultivates attention, time and discernment.
Through a course and twelve workshops,
the book was examined, deconstructed and reassembled as both an idea and a medium – thereby updating its formal, intellectual
and social function. The contributions invite readers to examine and expand their own conception of the book.
With
contributions by Dominic Duhs, Rubina Hellmich, Anne Hymer, Laura Jordan, Peter Kikl, Anna Mayer, Marisa Neubert, Felix Powondra,
Elias Rudigier, Lil Steiner, Dóra Szijártó, Moritz Wizany, and Paulus M. Dreibholz.
The exhibition is accompanied
and documented by the publication
Meine
Idee vom Buch – Zwölf künstlerische Reflexionen zur Bedeutung des Buches in der Gegenwart, which will be
presented to the public on Friday, October 2, 2026, at 5 p.m. at designforum Vienna.
