This is the first volume
of a three-volume series reflecting the topics and projects developed within studio díazmoreno garcíagrinda, directed
by Cristina Díaz Moreno and Efrén García Grinda at the Institute of Architecture at the University of Applied Arts Vienna,
between 2019–2024.
In the academic year 2022/2023 and in the course of the lecture Architekturentwurf, studio díazmoreno
garcíagrinda was dealing with the area of the Vienna railway station Westbahnhof. The development of the program and the processing
during the two semesters with nuanced approaches and goals took place in coordination and collaboration with the Vienna City
Planning Department. The project was also accompanied by numerous external experts who could bring in different perspectives
onto the site.
The variety of different aspects of this area have already played a central role in the methodological
approach. The task was not primarily issued with the aim of developing a quasi-finished project. Rather, the students should
work on developing a kind of urban, architectural language for the area under the guidance and support of the professors and
the studio team. This framework is reflected in the fact that the project topic is entitled as "A Glossary of Possible Urban
Futures for Westbahnhof."
Similar to the sequence of terms in a dictionary, the different aspects were each developed
under a word to be defined.
