The Angewandte is co-organizer of the conference
“Culture and Art in the Context of the Russian-Ukrainian War: Artistic Strategies, Discursive Practices, Vectors of Comprehension”
organized by the Modern Art Research Institute of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine (Kyiv), which from 29.–30. May take
place hybrid. Artists and researchers at Angewandte are invited to submit contributions to the conference on the following
topics:
– Culture and art in times of war: response, agency and aesthetics;
– Artistic reflections on war: transformation of images and values;
– Art therapy as a way to overcome trauma;
–
National culture and geopolitics: new discursive practices;
– Cultural studies and art history: vectors of understanding
Ukrainian identity;
– Preservation and actualization of cultural heritage in times of war;
– European integration
of Ukraine as intercultural dialogue: mechanisms and
prospects.

The conference sessions will be held
in mixed mode: in presence in Kyiv and online.

The conference will include a section of young scholars, to which graduate
and
postgraduate students, Ph.D. candidates of research and educational institutions
of Ukraine and other countries
are invited to participate.
Languages of the conference: Ukrainian, English, Polish.
The deadline for applications
and abstracts is May 24, 2024.
Submitting an abstract is at the discretion of the author, it is possible to present at
the conference without an abstract.
Abstract formatting guidelines:

Roman 14;
Length: up to 4 pages.
The list of references should be compiled according to the APA style

The structure of the abstract:
Author’s name, academic degree, place of work, position, ORCID
Paper title,
Text, Conclusion
References are optional
Participation in the conference is confirmed provided that the topic of
the paper
is relevant for the conference and the abstract (if any) is formatted correctly.
The program of the conference
will be published on the official websites of the
NAA of Ukraine and the MARI of the NAA of Ukraine no later than May
27, 2024.
Abstracts will be published by June 30, 2024.
