Quantummmecosommm
A workshop by the Department Art & Theory
How to tangibly experience the connection between human and more-than-human life in urban environments?
How to embody the knowledge of quantum physics and approach theory in a collective learning process?
Quantummmecosommm is a workshop which aims to find answers to these questions. We engage in the diffractive
dialogue between somatics and ecology, on one side, and philosophy and quantum physics, on the other. Our point of departure
is, from one hand, a queer-feminist and post-human understanding of bodies as permeable, interdependent, and fundamentally
transformable, and, on the other hand, the American physics and theorist Karen Barad. Instead of treating the world as a backdrop
for human activity, and identities as fixed, we follow Barad's thought to explore how environments move through us: through
breath, touch, memory, and power relations.
