The 18th
APRU Multi-Hazards Symposium 2023 will be held on November 29 - 30 in Singapore. This year’s symposium will be organised and
hosted by the Earth Observatory of Singapore from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, in collaboration with the APRU.
The theme of this year’s symposium is “Advancing Frontiers in Disaster Risk Science, Technology and Policy”.
With
the event hosted in Singapore, we aim to leverage the country’s unique setting and future-driven orientation to host a dynamic
conference, with the end goal of facilitating idea exchange and potential opportunities for projects. This year’s in-person
event is expected to host about 200 participants. The symposium will have a format that bridges both the traditional conference
style of guest lectures, posters and presentations, and activities that allow for a more interactive dialogue.
The
overall programme will include plenary keynote talks, networking sessions around posters, and breakout sessions that will
be clustered into six topics defined by the science committee. During the breakout sessions, three sessions will run in parallel
in separate rooms, with each session dedicated to a specific topic. Each session consists of scientific presentations and
roundtable discussions for collaborative exchange between participants and their peers. The roundtable discussions will focus
on relevant problem statements. These could address topical issues proposed by industry guests or other stakeholders, challenges
and successes in the participants’ research, and ideas for future research direction.
Deadline for registration
is 15 November 2023.
